Dead Man’s Wash Gold Paydirt
Near the foothills of Kingman Arizona hides Dead Man’s Wash. Kingmans area has a rich mining history dating back to the 1800s, when gold and silver were first discovered in the nearby Cerbat Mountains. The area became a hub for prospectors and miners following the establishment of the nearby Fort Mohave in 1859, which provided protection for settlers and mining operations. By the 1880s, Kingman had become a significant center for mining activity, especially after the completion of the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad in 1883, which helped transport ore and supplies. The surrounding mines, including those in the Mineral Park and Stockton Hill districts, produced valuable minerals such as gold, silver, copper, lead, and zinc. Mining played a crucial role in the growth and development of Kingman, leaving a legacy that is still evident in the region today.
